Minimal PSTN address format in Internet Mail as a Proposed Standard with the following text added as an IESG Note: IESG NOTE: This memo describes a simple method of encoding PSTN addresses in the local-part of Internet email addresses, along with an extension mechanism to allow encoding of additional standard attributes needed for email gateways to PSTN-based services. As with all Internet mail addresses, the left-hand-side (local- part) of an address generated according to this specification, is not to be interpreted except by the MTA that is named on the right-hand-side (domain). Minimal FAX address format in Internet Mail as a Proposed Standard with the following text added as an IESG Note: IESG NOTE: This memo describes a simple method of encoding PSTN addresses of facsimile devices in the local-part of Internet email addresses. As with all Internet mail addresses, the left-hand-side (local- part) of an address generated according to this specification, is not to be interpreted except by the MTA that is named on the right-hand-side (domain). A Simple Mode of Facsimile Using Internet Mail as a Proposed Standard. 3. The IESG approved publication of The Use of URLs as Meta-Syntax for Core Mail List Commands and their Transport through Message Header Fields as a Proposed Standard. However, as this depends on the mailto URL scheme document (currently under discussion), so the announcement cannot be sent yet. 4. The IESG approved publication of Generic Packet Tunneling in IPv6 Specification as a Proposed Standard. 5. The IESG tentatively approved formation of the IP Telephony (iptel) Working Group in the Transport Area. Allyn to provide revised text for the WG description proior to the announcement being sent. 6. The IESG approved formation of the Differentiated Services (diffserv) Working Group in the Transport Area. 7. The Guide for Internet Standards Guide (stdguide) Working Group is to be transferred from the Operations & Management Area to the General Area. Fred to convey that the IESG would like DIFFs included when substantial changes are made to a document progressing UP the standards track, particularly from Proposed to Draft. 8. The IESG approved publication of the following two documents as Experimental: 1. Transparent Content Negotiation in HTTP and 2. HTTP Remote Variant Selection Algorithm -- RVSA/1.0 9. The IESG had no problem with the publication of Ukrainian Character Set KOI8-U as an Informational RFC. 10. The IESG had no problem with the publication of Ipsilon's General Switch Management Protocol Specification Version 2.0 as an Informational RFC. 11. The IESG decided to recommend against publishing The Keyword Protocol (KP) as an Informational RFC, leaving it to the RFC Editor's discretion. The document doesn't add anything of use to the Internet community, and it was noted there there was no security section though it does have obvious security flaws. 12. The IESG decided to recommend against publishing Architecture of the Resource Reservation Service as an Informational RFC. This document seemed more like a conference paper than an Informational RFC. 13. Steve to add the new IESG members to the iesg mailing list and to the teleconferences. Steve will verify coordinate information and make it happen. 14. Jeff Schiller will run the WG Training Session in LA, with Steve assisting/auditing. Keith will also audit as he will handle the session in Chicago. 15. Steve announced that Majordomo was up and running on IETF.ORG. Will wait a couple more days (and kinks are identified and resolved) before announcing to the list. 16. Steve announced that IETF.ORG will replace ds.internic.net as the primary IETF shadow site. The idea of RFCs being at IETF.ORG was raised as well, providing a stable location. Steve had no problem with the concept, but wanted to check into resource requirements (disk space, bandwidth, etc.). The idea of creating a special domain (rfc.ietf.org) was also proposed. Steve will investiagate all the options and report back to the IESG.
