IMAGE DESCRIPTION:

I was not going for realism here at all but hoped to capture the mood of the
music by depicting a rocking jam sesion - when musians just go for it and are
really into their music. I hope that was accomplished with the figures in
dynamic stances, metalic relfective textures, and the colored volumetric
lighting. I considered adding abstract shapes coming out of their instruments
but then thought it would make the image too busy.

Let me know what you think.

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED:

The figures and instruments were created from primitive shapes (tubes, boxes, or
spheres). All the elements are original and created from scratch. There are
three spot lights with volumetric lighting giving the smoky affect and adding
color. An overhead area light added ambient light, highlights, and shadow.
The stage was created from a curve that was extruded then beveled. The tricky
part was getting the hands and fingers to look right - lots of tweaking. The
characters were then bent into dyanmic stances.
