IMAGE DESCRIPTION:

My thoughts are about a spiral, endlessness, the idea of
seeing the abstract in the ordinary.

I often suffer from vertigo and this is exactly the situation that makes me
very dizzy. So to get my mind off the vertigo I focus on the abstract form
of the staircase spiralling down and away from me.

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED:

Staircase is mostly CSG, the rail is a B-spline (Mike Webers plug-in).
I deliberatly use a reflective chrome texture for the rail to make sure it
stands out all the way down.
The staircase is 20 storey high, I used a 24mm camera to exaggerate the
perspective.
The scene is lit by one large area light and a sky sphere, high radiosity
settings slowed down the render a bit.
I wanted to use a reflective finish on the granite texture but due to extreme
rendering times I had to drop it.
The rail may seem bent by the setting. This is due to the viewpoint as the
viewer
isn_t placed directly above the rail and the wide camera angle seemes to
exaggerates
this.
