IMAGE DESCRIPTION:

I think Easter Island (Rapa Nui for locals) is one of the most immediatly
identifiable landscape in the world with maybe the skyline of NY. But, and this
is the point, it is also something quite incomprehensible for most of us.
When I saw the topic, I remember one of my favorite comics author, Hugo Pratt
and his masterwork : "La balade de la mer sal_e" (Balad of the salt sea, I
guess).
My image is largely inspired by his work.

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED:

The composition of the image was clear since the beginning but it takes a long
time before I change the format from 1.33 to 2.

The ground is done by a bicubic patch (that could be a mistake). I used Gilles
Tran macro Makegrass and I modified it a little to fit to ground. I also use
his macro for clouds.

The moais (statues) are all the same (what a shame, but I hadn't time to do 3
different ones), done in Rhino then exported to Povray.

The sea is done by heightfields but is not completely satisfying.

I tried to put a character, but I never found something like I wanted, and there
was no time to do it in Rhino.

Finally, I apologize for my english, I hope it is nearly comprehensible.
