IMAGE DESCRIPTION:

If you ask "what about your picture ?", I will answer I do not know. To
understand that, I have to explain something: Every night I sleep I dream. Wild
dreams, sweet dreams, but also odd dreams, strange dreams, dreams of fear and
anger. When I wake up in the morning, I might remember them, but at last on
breakfast I forgot them all. I know that I do dream. But I do not know what
they are about. I still remember the emotions I got with them. But I do not
know the topics any more.
So this picture stands here for my dreams: I do know I dream, but I only
remember the emotions. Odd things like the flying dolphin, nice things like
flying a glider, fear of the very big city or fear of the desert, ...

So if you ask "what about this picture ?", I will answer I do not know. And you
might understand it then.

But there is another way to come along with that picture. Dreams are not real.
And so are the objects in the picture. A flying dolphin, the fading gate, the
city in the desert - possibly a "Fata Morgana" (if that expression exists in
English). And though these things are not real, they are very important for
real life. It is like having 30 seconds holiday and your mind might have a
hang-over. Ask the scientist of the time around 1900, like Freud, oder Jung,
look at pictures of Salvadore Dali, Rene Magritte or in the "book of
beginnings" by Gilles Tran (please visit his homepage at
http://www.mediaport.net/Artichaud/Tran).

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED:

- Hard working with boxes, cylinders and csg and you will get the gate. With
transparencies you will get the fading with the texture. The column plug-in
makes life easier. Also does the city plug-in for the background. That all was
done in Moray. With Helixir you can creat some funny objects.
- Do just a simple tree with Tree Designer and get it into the scene a few
times.
- The heightfield is just a simple plasma fractal done with Fractint.
- The Dolphin is created by Jean-Rene Livenais. Thank you a lot for it. The
texture is quite easy done also with transperancies, but looks fine.
- And now to the very best thing: subdivision surfaces. I tried it out for the
glider. It worked very good so I will make nearly every object with it in the
future. Actually I am working with Metasequoia, but I am waiting for Laputa,
the shareware version of hamapatch. With Metasequoia you have to convert the
file. For that I used 3DWin.
- Since I do not know anything of the pov-ray code the whole scene is merged in
Moray, the textures are made with Moray.
