IMAGE DESCRIPTION:

Doesn_t look good for the fighters, does it? This peacefull cargoship
turned out to be the destroyer HMS Calgary...

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED:

        The big ship
I began the hull with Amapi 4.1, but carved in all the details in
Highlight.

        The fighters
They are asymetrical space-fighters. I made all of this object in
Highlight, mainly in a "point-after-point"-way. The first textures were made in
Gimp, later I made some of them in Paint, used the bluebox option to cover them
with mathematical textures. The red glowing effect is part of the texture (a
built in Highlight pro 3.0 feature).
By the way, Benno Wagner (seen his roman soldiers?) told me that the
green colour makes the Fighers look like Fighters of the Gardeners Guild. What
do you think?

        The pilot
Well, in the end I took an old face I made earlier this year and
reworked it to make it look paniced. It is a pitty that you can not see that at
this solution. Half of the body is new, the other half is developped out of old
objects I made earlier.

        The white projectiles
These are no particles (I didn_t use any particles in the entire scene)
but objects. The texture simply repeats the run of the colour, the transparency
and the glowing effect.

        The explosion
Shame on me! The Explosion consists of several deformed round objects
(with some nearly transparent textures), a fighter in the middle and an object
flying away from it! Never the less Mr Gleiss told me it looked good, so I did
not change it.

        The fire
Two zylinders with a mathematical fire texture. Highlight might not be
perfect, but the textures you can create with it are great!

        The light-sources
More than fifteen, only two of them are coloured (maybe I_ll change that
until tomorow).

I might have forgotten something, if so, feel free to mail me!

     WHAT`S LEFT TO SAY...

I am well aware of the physical incorectness of this picture.

Thanks to Mr Gleiss (Who introduced me into raytracing two years ago and
gave me many usefull tips) and his whife, to Christoph Groth (who didn_t mind
giving me an introduction in matrix-transformation), Markus Rahlff (The man who
programmed Highlight. He send me a problem-solving mail two days after that
introduction. This was quite helpful, because I had only found half of my
errors in my matrix calculation at that time.) (If you should read this: nice
program, Mr Rahlff!).

I didn_t add any of my objects or the script, but if you want to have
something just tell me.

Since this is the first time I take part in the IRTC, I would be happy
to know what you think about my picture! Thanks!
