IMAGE DESCRIPTION:
The image is meant to be inspired by the works of the Italian
artist
Piranesi who was known for his views of the interiors of fantastic castles and
ruins

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED:
The various objects in the image
(which are all
fairly simple) were assembled in SolidThinking and given textures. All the
textures are
procedural (no bitmaps used anywhere) the main one being the stone wall surface
used for the
walls at the rear and the floor at the front. This is made up of a displacement
shader to
produce the bumps tied to a surface shader to do the coloration. A good number
of the lights
also use a bespoke light source shader to give just the right spread. The image
was saved
to an RIB file and rendered with four samples per pixel. Although I have not
uploaded the
RIB file I will being contributing the shaders to www.renderman.org when they
have been tidied
up.
