IMAGE DESCRIPTION:

"Three little maids from school are we". The three maids (Yum-Yum,
Pitti-Sing and Peep-Bo) on their way to meet the Lord High Executioner
Ko-Ko in a scene from Gilbert & Sullivan's opera "The Mikado", played
out on a futuristic 3D holographic display system.

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED:

The base unit and the Maid figures were created in Bezier patches using
the excellent SPatch modeller. However, my attempts at modelling human
parts were a disaster, so the head & hands are taken from those in
nbphm01.zip (May-June 97) and nbmagic.zip (Jul-Aug 97) (these were
created by NB, and are used with his permission - thanks).

The 3D background is done with a simple cheat of cutting a hole in the
wall and placing the pagoda behind it.

Yes, I know all 3 figures have the same pose - I'm afraid I ran out of time.

Inspiration and reference material came from the comprehensive Gilbert &
Sullivan archive at http://diamond.idbsu.edu/GaS/GaS.html and
specifically the Mikado section at
http://diamond.idbsu.edu/GaS/mikado/html/mikado.html

Here you can find not only plot summaries and other articles, but also
lyrics and MIDI files of the songs; this could be the first IRTC entry
you can sing along to ;-)
