Short: CBM Installer kit w/ WB icon of ParNET Uploader: dyson sunfish Physics Uiowa EDU Type: comm/net Architecture: m68k-amigaos This is a shortened (read edited!) version of the self-contained DMS, ParBENCH31.dms. This should be the same as the DMS file, but does not contain any of the misc AmigaDOS stuff to make the ParBENCH disk a self-contained, bootable floppy. DMS files are notorious for being corrupted and BIG!, so I have put together this version as a response to several requests. ParBENCH is a ParNET installation kit put together by Vernon Graner of Commodore Busines Machines. It uses the CBM Installer and is fully documented. ParNET itself is copyrighted by The Software Distillary and Doug Walker, John Toebes, and Matthew Dillon. The main improvements between this ParBENCH and the standard ParNET is the ease of installation and routine startup of the NET: device. This package contains a set of WorkBench tools to boot the network and fix up and display remote node icons, etc. Here is the original functionality statement from ParNET: The programs in this distribution allow a two-way network file system to be established via the parallel ports of two Amigas. A special cable is required to connect the parallel ports (see the file CABLE.DOC in this distribution). Once connected, the NET: file system behaves just like a disk device, allowing copies, reads, writes and so forth. It works with the workbench under both 1.3 and 2.0 versions of AmigaDOS.
